Kathleen O’Brien was admitted to state and federal courts in Oregon, and has been in private practice in Portland since 1983. She was born in Montana and moved to Oregon to attend college. She is an honors graduate of Oregon State University and a distinguished graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law, where she scored in the top three for the annual Law Review competition, and won second prize in the Nathan Burkan Memorial ASCAP writing competition. She has won impressive verdicts and court decisions for her clients in Multnomah County and the court of appeals. She is a long-time member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. She enjoys acting, public speaking, athletics, her family, and educating people about disability and compassion. She is a warm and loving mother to her own children, and a passionate advocate for all children.

Kathleen’s philosophy is that the practice of law requires strength and passion for the pursuit of justice when a remedy is available at law, and compassion for the limitations of justice when no remedy seems adequate. Part of her counseling effort is to assist the client to make a clear and informed decision about their case every step of the way.
