Michael W. Coriden, Esq.
Senior Partner
Michael Coriden is a seasoned litigator with considerable experience in civil litigation. He represents plaintiffs in Personal Injury cases including major auto, truck and motorcycle accidents; wrongful death cases; premises liability and insurance coverage and insurance bad faith cases. His litigation and appellate experience ranges from cases in state district courts to the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Coriden has negotiated multi-million dollar settlements on behalf of his clients; he has invaluable experience in successfully negotiating substantial Personal Injury claims.
Mr. Coriden served as Assistant Attorney General specializing in criminal appeals before the Iowa Supreme Court and in the enforcement of state environmental laws. He has also served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. His experience as an arbiter is extremely useful for the mediation and arbitration of your Personal Injury claim. The mediation or arbitration of Personal Injury claims is a much faster and far less expensive process than extensive litigation before juries and subsequent full appellate court process in the State of Nebraska.
Mr. Coriden is also an experienced corporate lawyer with an extensive background in corporate mergers and acquisitions, domestic and international business transactions, bankruptcy issues, engineering and construction projects, environmental laws and regulations, and oil & gas and mining projects. Mr. Coriden has counseled clients on business transactions throughout the United States as well as in Australia, Canada, Japan, the European Union, and South America.
The training and experience that Mr. Coriden acquired as corporate lawyer also has been very helpful when applied to representing seriously injured people whose injuries have resulted in the loss of substantial business revenues or significant work losses. His broad background is also useful for those people who have suffered injuries from dangerous construction sites and gas explosions.
With his international background, Mr. Coriden can easily relate with and effectively represent immigrants who have been injured in an accident and who came to the United States from all regions of the world. He can guide these particular clients through the difficulties of the American legal system. Mr. Coriden has available native speakers of Spanish, Portuguese and Korean languages to better assist his clients.
A native of Sioux City, Iowa, Mr. Coriden graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1966. Michael Coriden then attended Grinnell College (where he met his wife Karen Coriden) and the University of Iowa, graduating in 1971. He received his Juris Doctorate (Law) degree from Creighton University School of Law in 1974. In 1983, Mr. Coriden earned an MBA degree from the University of Denver.
Mr. Coriden is licensed to practice law in Nebraska and Colorado. He is also licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the Federal District Courts for Nebraska and Colorado.
Finally, having been himself seriously injured by a hit and run driver, Mr. Coriden personally knows the physical pain, mental and emotional agony suffered by his accident victim clients, and the trauma inflicted on their family members by a severe personal injury. He has personally experienced the medical treatments and surgery, the months of intensive physical therapy, and the frustrations of being unable to immediately return to work as is so often encountered by his clients.
Mr. Coriden is serving as the Senior Managing Partner for the firm's offices in Omaha, Nebraska, where his practice continues to emphasize the handling of serious Personal Injury cases, including major auto, truck and motorcycle accidents.
