Rear-end Collisions

The rear-end collision is the most common type of automobile accident. This occurs when one vehicle hits the rear end of another vehicle. About 2.5 million rear-end collisions occur each year. Injuries sustained in the typical rear-end collision usually involve the neck and back. Whiplash and other soft tissue injuries are the most common.

• Serious injuries to the head and face — such as closed head injuries — caused by airbag deployment
