Meet Our CEO

William Muhr, Esq.

William Muhr is the CEO, owner, and principal manager of the firm, which was established in 1988.

William Muhr was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Following his High School graduation, he entered active duty military service and worked as a military police patrolman. Eventually graduating from Widener University ROTC in Chester, PA, he was promoted from Platoon Leader to Chief of Military Police Investigations, and later to Detachment Commander of a Military Police Unit. He commanded the Military Police headquarters whose strength exceeded 60 personnel.

Mr. Muhr also attended Westchester University where he obtained his Bachelors degree in 1980 and his Masters degree in 1982. While at Westchester University, he worked as a Graduate Assistant in the University's Department of Institutional Research. In 1985, at age 27, he obtained his Juris Doctor (law degree) from the prestigious Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia.

After graduating from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, he served as a military lawyer. He graduated from the Judge Advocate General's School located on the campus of the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville.

Transferring to Fort Carson, Colorado, he then handled third-party personal injury claims. He also worked at Fort Carson as a Brigade Trial Counsel and Prosecutor, where he managed and handled numerous trials.

In 1988, he left active service as a military lawyer and then opened his full-time private practice handling serious personal injury cases and wrongful death claims.

As a result of Mr. Muhr's great respect for our military and our liberty, he also made his own personal sacrifices and commitment to our armed forces. Accordingly, while he maintained his full-time private practice, he also continued his military service by working weekends and nights with the United States Army National Guard. He also completed numerous advanced post-graduate legal courses at the Judge Advocate General's School at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

While at all times maintaining his full-time Personal Injury practice and still serving in the Army National Guard, Mr. Muhr was eventually promoted to Deputy Staff Judge Advocate; Staff Judge Advocate; Military Judge; and then to Senior Staff Judge Advocate. He was proud to train and serve as a Certified Military Judge and be a part of an elite organization comprising some the finest judiciary in our nation.

He served honorably for 24 years, receiving numerous awards and decorations, including the Overseas Service Ribbon; Army Commendation Medal; Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Desert Storm Medal; Armed Forces Award Medal; Army Service Ribbon with Oak Leaf Clusters; Major General TJ Stewart Medal; and the National Defense Service Medal. He also received several physical fitness awards during his military service and remains in excellent health. Mr. Muhr honorably retired from the Army as a Certified Military Judge in 1999 and then continued to focus on his private Personal Injury law practice.

Over the last 20 years, Mr. Muhr has developed invaluable litigation skills as a trial lawyer and judge, which are essential skills for the effective representation of his clients. If insurance companies know that you can and will effectively litigate cases, then the insurance carriers will offer reasonable settlement offers to conclude cases in order to avoid a jury trial with competent, experienced counsel.

Our excellence is the result of caring more for our clients than others think is wise, dreaming more than others think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible.  Our firm is committed to excellence.

We are joined by a great shared devotion to all of our clients and therefore, for them, we accomplish many victories.

I firmly believe that collectively we have created one of the finest Personal Injury law firms in the country.

His work has repeatedly been recognized for excellence. In 1998, he was recognized by the Consumer Business Review as the Personal Injury Attorney of the Year. In 2003, he received the National Leadership Award from the Honorary Co-Chairman of the Business Advisory Council for his leadership in promoting a pro-business agenda. Also, in 2003, he graduated from the Good Sheppard Mediation Program. Mr. Muhr is currently a professional member of the Council of Mediators whose mission is to advocate for the increased use of mediation, promote excellence in mediation and serve as a networking and informational resource.

In May 2005, the trial lawyers association recognized his firm's case of State Farm v. Shaffer for the honorable "Case of the Year Award Finalist." The Case of the Year Award is chosen based on whether the lawyers and clients faced a particular challenge or overwhelming odds; it resulted in a positive change in the law; it helped increase awareness of a societal injustice; it created a change in public safety; it has broad public impact; it righted a particularly grievous wrong; it exemplifies the ideals of the trial lawyers association; and, finally, whether the lawyers of our firm represented the under-represented. This is a fabulous award that promotes the importance of the civil justice system while we recognize remarkable achievements among us, reminds us of the positive impacts we make, encourages us to take unique challenges and provides another opportunity for educating the public about the cases that impact society and the good that trial lawyers do.

In addition to his exemplary work for his clients, William Muhr also has been asked to lecture on various legal topics and has spoken before large audiences numerous times.

Mr. Muhr has personally handled countless Personal Injury claims consistently since 1985. He has settled multiple claims in excess of $2,000,000.00. He has also obtained multiple judgments in excess of $1,000,000.00. During his entire legal career he has always remained an active member of the bar in good standing. He handled multiple major cases all the way from the jury trial stage through the Court of Appeals and ultimately to the Supreme Court (a legal process that often takes ten or more years to complete). As a result of his tireless efforts on behalf of his clients, and his determination to make better laws for consumers, he has published several Supreme Court cases, in the area of personal injury law, that have had a major impact favorable to consumers and against the insurance industry on a national level.

Mr. Muhr knows that working hard for his clients is a tough and stressful yet rewarding job. Since he commenced the practice of law in 1985, Mr. Muhr has tenaciously worked very long hours for his clients because he is committed to every one of them; and he has built a very successful law practice by opening offices in 16 major cities throughout the United States. William Muhr, LLP is staffed with highly credentialed lawyers who collectively provide high quality legal services to consumers.
